个人简历：
1962年3月生，湖南长沙人
物理学教授，博士生导师，长江计划特聘教授（1999年度，理论物理）
1996年度获国家杰出青年基金 南京大学生物物理研究所所长

目前研究方向：
凝聚态理论物理、生物物理、软凝聚态物理：
1、蛋白质折叠动力学、蛋白质系统复杂性简化（理论与实验）；
2、生物神经系统信息处理的物理机制和动力学特性（理论）；
3、有关与凝聚态物理交叉的理论问题；

科研项目：
先后主持国家自然科学基金、教育部、科技部和江苏省科研项目10项，参加多项。
2007年承担科技部973项目“非线性科学核心问题及其重要应用”(首席科学家)。

获多项奖励，如：
1997年香港求是科技基金会“ 杰出青年学者奖”（物理学）
2000年第七届中国青年科技奖
